Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines crucial terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations for that rental. Should any inconsistencies arise between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Solihull, drivers must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle class, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters must also present valid identification, proof of address, and payment information, including a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Solihull office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Payment in full, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. Prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties to document the state of the vehicle. Please return the vehicle in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is below this mark. Late returns may incur extra charges, so communicate with us promptly if a delay is expected. You will be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is also forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Ensure the vehicle is used within its intended capacity and weight limits, and do not operate it outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior consent.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire in Solihull will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or for fraudulent activities.
Solihull Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be handled exclusively by English and Welsh courts.
